moving to a different city always seems to mark a new time in my life musically. boston has become my new home after living in hartford, ct and new york city before that. the music on this release is a representation of me settling into a new environment. i have slowly realized that the music i make is mostly therapy for myself. it is what i believe that i need to hear at the time in order to be at peace with whatever situation i am in. in that regard, the music is very much who i am.

phat dubstep infected techno nuggets, fresh and unique.

herva, of delsin, kontra, mos and all city fame, offers another set of forward-thinking dancefloor bombs. across four tracks this young italian demonstrates his unique interpretation of the past and the future again and again. herva is the artist name of herve atsè corti. he was born in 1991, and has been surrounded by music from the beginning thanks to his family. he made a reputation for himself early on at high school as a talented drummer, but, intrigued by electronic music he decided to start making his own beats with a laptop. a few years later bosconi records released his early productions, both as herva both and as life’s track (a side project with dukwa). he is also part of tru west, a collective he founded with mass prod, rufus and raffaele amenta.

six years on from his debut album on cadenza, mirko loko returns to the fold with a follow up album (- comet plan -) and a single (- kolor -).
2009s * seventynine* long player helped catapult mirkos profile, not only as a producer, but also as dj, regularly spinning alongside the cadenza crew, and with detroit luminaries such as derrick may and carl craig. and its on this single that mirko invites friend and peer, carl craig, to remix under his c2 guise. wearing his influences on his sleeve, mirko is obviously indebted to the techno music of the motor city, and these classic detroit tropes are certainly used in the building blocks of the original mix of “kolor-, a sprawling and pacey intergalactic journey sprinkled with a dusting of xylophones, bells & chimes, as the melody is driven forward for a heady trip across the night skies.

philippe laurent, a renowned french electro/synth wave pioneer & modern classical music composer who released a numerous amount of tapes during the 80s and a lp vinyl album on the label minimal wave records in 2011. this release joint consist in two tracks by philippe laurent from 1982 unreleased on vinyl yet and exclusively restored from the original tapes by minimal wave records studios in new york in 2014 and a cover by xeno & oaklander a cold wave and synth pop band from the same city.

the detroit music community has outposts in nearly every major city, and vancouver, british columbia is no exception. this ep represents the connection of two such artists, detroit native, josh garrett, who currently resides in vancouver and runs the subspec label, and rennie foster, a stalwart of the underground, who has spent a quarter of his life in tokyo, but born in bc and now living back there, in vancouver. rennie has released on a myriad of detroit labels, such as transmat, teknotika, soiree, subject detroit, wallshaker, and motech. josh and rennie met in vancouver, only since rennies recent return, and realizing they were of the same tribe, immediately began to collaborate on a number of projects, now including this limited run, double a-side, record, chalk full of dj friendly techno trax, firmly rooted in the motor city sound, yet unique enough to be a contributor, not just another imitator.

caul is the new album from last harbour. based in the northern english city of manchester, last harbour play music with a dark, gothic heart yet their songs are always beautiful and transcendent. after working with producer richard formby (wild beasts, spacemen 3, ghostpoet) on two previous albums, the band took time out after touring to build their own studio in 2013. this new album was recorded in that self-created space over a year between 2013-4 and bears testament to a patient and detailed recording process that allowed time for experimentation and careful arrangement.
